About this event

This mini -conference is being organised by Workplace Chaplaincy Mission UK in conjunction with Cambridgeshire Workplace Chaplaincy.

Much has changed in the world of work over recent years, not least due to the Brexit, the Covid pandemic, climate change, personal worries for oneself or a loved one, grief and now a cost of living crisis and the devastating news from Ukraine, sending shock waves around the world. How have we coped and can continue to cope with such uncertainty and fears? And how can we hold on to hope for the future?

Of course, we have our faith. But we also have the power of RESILIENCE within us to help us and give us the strength to offer support to others.

The first speaker will be JANE THOMPSON, Development & Administrative Assistant for Cambridgeshire Workplace Chaplaincy. Read more about Jane below.

Jane will be introducing the subject of resilience, discussing the different types and tools we an use and how it applies to workplace chaplains.

The second speaker will be ALAN NICHOLLS of the Money & Pensions Service. Read more about Alan below.

Alan will be looking at resilience in practice, with particular focus on money issues. As the increasing cost of living is beginning to bite hard for some of those who support (as well as for some chaplains themselves), Alan will provide some sound guidance on how we can help and offer support to those who find themselves facing anxiety over financial matters.

This will be a practical session where chaplains will learn some tools to enhance the support they are able to offer .

The session will close with a short period of reflection and prayer.

This mini-conference is aimed at those fulfilling a workplace chaplaincy role. However, it is an OPEN event and anyone who is interested in the topic is very welcome to attend. Please invite others to come along if you think they will be interested.

The speakers will start promptly at 14:00 and will finish on time at 15:30.

Networking

Some mini-conference attendees enjoy the opportunity to chat with others and share experiences. Their will be a brief opportunity for networking before and after the main session.

The Zoom room will be open from 13:45 and will remain open for a longer period after the main session, for those of you who would like to use this time to network with other workplace chaplains from around the country. If you would a private online room for your conversations during this networking time, you may send a message in the online chat facilities and this will be arranged.
